Goethe University performed extremely well in various national and international university and discipline rankings in 2013. Both published research work as well as media and political influence were included in an assessment carried out by the German newspaper, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, which looked at the most influential economists. Economists at Goethe University were placed fifth overall. The Centre for Financial Studies (CFS) at Goethe University achieved sixth place in the category for the most influential German economic research institutes. Goethe University also scored well in the ranking carried out by Wirtschaftswoche, the German business weekly. It was placed in the top ten universities in four disciplines at once (Economics, Business Administration, Business Information Technology, and Science).

Today, the Faculty is considered one of the most attractive economics and business administration faculties in Germany. This view is shared not only by the more than 4,500 students enrolled, but also by the numerous national and international companies regularly recruiting our graduates. It was here that Ludwig Erhard wrote his doctorate, Erich Gutenberg lectured and Reinhard Selten, Germany's first Nobel Laureate in Economics, received his certificate of Habilitation.
